Installation instructions

Installatie fig. 1
Fig. 1

Space (a) must be as small as possible. The smaller the opening, the better the labyrinth seal works.

If radial play and/or tilting movements occur, look in the relevant type specifications for information on axial and/or radial play.

Installatie fig. 2
Fig. 2

The use of separate installation aids is recommended, particularly if the construction provides no space for chamfering.

When installing, it is best not just to apply pressure, but also make radial movements and tap axially to overcome the seal resistance.

Installatie fig. 3
Fig. 3

1) Single- and double-wound rings are turned in the groove by spreading the rings axially.

2) Make sure that the rings are not bent too far, because they may then be permanently deformed.

Installatie fig. 4
Fig. 4

When installing single-wound rings, make sure that the ring ends do not become intertwined or coincide with each other.

When screwing in double-wound rings, make sure that the ring ends do not coincide, because the ring then ends up "inside out".

Installatie fig. 5
Fig. 5

Internally and externally tensioned locking rings can be installed by screwing in manually as illustrated.

Spread the ring ends slightly axially.
1) Place one end in the groove.
2) Install by screwing the remainder of the ring into the groove.

Installatie fig. 6
Fig. 6

In addition to the manual method mentioned in Fig. 5, internally tensioned locking rings can also be fitted with the aid of a mounting cone.

1) Set up the mounting cone and the locking ring.
2) Push the locking ring over the mounting cone with the aid of a pressure tube.
3) Check that the ring is sitting properly in the groove.

Installatie fig. 7
Fig. 7

In addition to the manual method mentioned in Fig. 5, externally tensioned locking rings can also be fitted with the aid of a fitting cone.

1) Set up the fitting cone and the locking ring.
2) Push the locking ring over the mounting cone with the aid of a pressure tube.
3) Check that the ring is sitting properly in the groove.

Fitting locking rings with a screwdriver. To do this, place the tip of a flat screwdriver into the locking ring slot and turn. When turning, press the end out of the groove, after which the ring is screwed further out of the groove.
